Killer Whale

Known by their bold black and white markings, these beautiful killers prefer cooler waters. Traveling together in groups known as pods, killer whales, or orcas, have been known to tilt a piece of floating ice dislodging sleeping prey such as seals and penguins. Adult males average 30 feet in length, while the females are only half that long. Babies are born 8 feet long and can weigh 400 pounds. Killer whales are in danger because of unnecessary killing by humans.
